Javon Bracy was born, raised, and educated in New Orleans, LA. She is a minister, mental health practitioner, and lupus awareness advocate.
In 2016, after years of experiencing symptoms and enduring medical racism, she was diagnosed with lupus. Thus began her journey of adjusting to life with chronic illness, establishing an ecosystem of physical, spiritual, and emotional care.
After attending a community event to raise awareness and funds for lupus, Javon had the idea to start her own grassroots organization that would specifically amplify the voices of Black women. She did a soft launch in March of 2020 to bring awareness to the ways lupus patients were uniquely being impacted by the pandemic and response. Since then the organization has continued to live into its mission and expand its impact.

The Purpletuity Project spreads a awareness about lupus through digital campaigns and virtual events. We provide to support and cultivate community among those impacted by lupus. We empower lupus patients (and their families) to advocate for themselves, especially in the medical sphere. We encourage people to support efforts that improve the quality of life for lupus patients and their families.
The name "Purpletuity" is a play on the lupus awareness color (purple) and the idea that legacy lives forever (perpetuity).
